Monodiet Smoothie Detox Diet

This is not for the faint hearted.

You should be in general good health. You should not attempt this for more than 3 days because you are not eating any solid food. In fact it is best to try it for one day just to see how you cope with it. Balancing the days either side with light foods with no coffee, alcohol

However, it is one of the best foods to detox because:

  • It is alkaline
  • Fruit and vegetables are loaded with antioxidants
  • It is gentle on the digestive tract but can result in diarrhea
  • If you choose the smoothie version it will contain the fibre too so good for elimination

Downside of a smoothie detox is that your reactions may be more extreme. As before if you are not able to cope with the side effects then you should stop immediately and observe the wind-up regime before embarking on normal eating.

Please refer to the dos and do nots of detox for advice on how to get the most from your programme. You must adhere to the wind-down and wind-up to normal eating; otherwise you may experience severe withdrawal reactions.
You will need a blender for the smoothie detox diet

On all days drink water and tisanes or herbal teas. Sip the smoothie during the day rather than downing in one.

You should choose a variety of organic fruits and vegetables. Include green vegetables and herbs in both.

Greens contain Chlorophyll which is synthesised in plants from sunshine. It carries oxygen which rapidly improves blood oxygenation and helps cleanse the body. Experiments with chlorophyll have shown that it increases tissue cell activity. It can help neutralize the toxic effects of some mutagens (things that change your genes and can cause cancer) which are ever present in our food and water.

Chlorophyll helps to strengthen cells and removes toxic, synthetic chemicals and heavy metals. The adhesive cellulose in its cell wall sticks to the metal atoms so they’re carried out as waste.

Put your washed fruit and vegetables into blender with a little water or squeezed orange juice and whizz. There are hundreds of combinations so choose your favourites or experiment.
Aim for 4 tall glasses of juice (that is a lot of veggies to buy so be prepared).
Do not include apple pips, citrus peels, veg tops and bottoms, skins such as bananas or avocados.
