What is Botox?

BOTOX is the short more commercially used trade name for Botulinum Toxin Type A and is protein complex derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.

Botulinum Toxin Type A in essence is a toxin which is why many find the thought of if horrifying as it is the same toxin that causes meat to rot and food poisoning in humans.

We spend so much of our lives getting rid of germs and being as obsessively hygienic that queuing up for your injection of poison seems hard to get your head round. Fortunately,Botox does not cause the same effect in the skin as it does in the stomach!  And let’s face it the results seen on the celebs are quite amazing and  produce a solution to our quest for eternal youth.

When Botulinum Toxin Type A is injected into a muscle it has a localising effect. This means that it blocks transmission between the nerve endings and muscle fibres around the area of the injection and it also causes weakness of the nearby muscles too so basically they don’t function so easily.
