Ok the sun is out and the boots thrown to the back of the wardrobe finally! But there's one problem - the state of your feet and those cracked heels. So what can you do?
Dry and Cracked heels are a very common problem for ageing feet.
They're unslightly and declare uncared for and unloved feet. And considering in a lifetime the average person walks over 6500 Km it's not suprising that feet start to look craggy. Heels when dry crack up easily and take on a whiter and flakey appearance on the edge where the skin is under the most pressure. Especially when wearing flip flops and it's not an attractive look.
Your feet spread out under your weight whilst walking. The result is that the skin on the heel gets squashed and if dry simply splits - rather like a ripe tomatoe that splits if you put pressure on it. And as the skin on the heel gets parched it discolours and in all adds up to old lady feet.
Also Cracked Heels are a great place for dirt to get trapped making cracks look even more noticeable and potentially a health problem. For the majority of suffers the problem is cosmetic and can easily be sorted with some TLC and major moisturising. But if the problem is unchecked and serious cracks start to appear they can bleed and become very uncomfortable to walk on. If left alone to crack up further they can also be open for infection.
There is an old saying “to keep a smile on your face look after your feet”
