What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose-VeinsAround a quarter of women have, or will have at some, a varicose vein. You will recognise such a vein by its rather obvious appearance.

Varicose veins are blue, bulging and twisted. The term varicose actually means ‘swollen’. These veins do not appear overnight. In actual fact they develop over ten to twenty years.

Spider veins are small broken capillaries and as their name suggests fan out to resemble a spider. These are sometimes sited near Varicose veins. However, you can have spider veins on legs and torso clustered on their own. They can be itchy and warm to the touch or completely void of any feeling at all, just there!
